About your SOS Dance Instructor, Natalie
I love to dance. It gets me out of my head and into my body. It makes me feel more ‘me’.
And from a health perspective, it might’ve saved my life.
I’ve danced on-and-off my whole life, from ballet and tap as a toddler, doing modern and street dance through school, and then commercial and pole fitness as an adult.
Dance was my gateway into other aspects of fitness and wellbeing. Altogether, dance and fitness has massively helped me to manage my health - including complex physical health conditions like cystic fibrosis and diabetes - as well as my mental and emotional wellbeing. Dancing just makes me feel good.
With a huge passion for movement and wellbeing, I’m also a qualified personal trainer and health coach. I’m all about finding ways to connect with our bodies so that we can feel the best we can, to enjoy this incredible life to the fullest 🙌.

On a mission to create the World’s Most Empowering Dance classes
I love the whole ethos of SOS Dance. That’s why I chose to become an Instructor (or ‘Boss’, as SOS calls us!) with them. They are all about empowering women to believe in themselves using dance as a source of strength, power and confidence that you can carry through to all aspects of your life.
The routines we teach are all choreographed by A-List dancers who have performed with Lizzo, Beyoncé, Dua Lipa, Little Mix and many more - and they feel SO GOOD to strut out.
I danced with SOS (back when they were ‘Seen on Screen’) when I lived in London and have been looking for a class near me for a long while. There were no commercial dance classes in my area, so I joined forces with SOS to bring adult commercial dance classes to Guildford!

Questions answered
-
Yes! Absolutely!
It’s more about feeling comfortable and getting really confident with a section of the routine, rather than trying to blaze through as much of it as possible, as perfectly as possible.
I’ll break routines down into small chunks and go at the pace of the room.
Remember our ethos is about feeling EMPOWERED. I want you to feel good when you leave and I will always keep this front of mind in the pace I run the class at and how thoroughly I break down moves.
-
Our 55-minute weekly classes go something like this:
Welcome and intro to the routine
Warm up
Learn the routine, section by section, broken down into individual movements and counts
Practise what we learn slowly, at mid-tempo, full tempo and to music
Dance it!
Film it, take selfies, and see-ya-laters!
I encourage you to take water breaks, toilet breaks, and ask questions whenever you need.
-
I recommend bringing a bottle of water. Maybe a small bite to eat for before/after class, if you get snacky like I do!
If there is floor work, you might like to bring knee pads. This is infrequent and I will let you know if this is recommended!
-
Routines run in TWO WEEK CYCLES.
That means → new choreography every 2 weeks ✌️
When classes run weekly, this gives you 2 opportunities to dance a track.
This keeps the routines FRESH, while still giving you a chance to catch a class with your favourite tunes. 🎵
-
Here’s why…
Dancing a routine for a second week:
🔥 building confidence in the choreography
❤️ dancing from your BODY rather than your mind; FEELING the moves and letting your body flow, rather than having to think about it so much
⚡️ polishing your moves and making it BIGGER, BOLDER and SHARPER than the last time
✨ adding details you didn’t pick up the week before
💃🏼 adding more steps on to the routine (depending on the pace of the class, we might be able to build on the previous week with another set of 8 counts, or more)
👯♀️ bringing friends - bring a friend along who you think would LOVE to experience what you already learnt, or said ‘OMG I’d LOVE to do that!’ when they saw a video of you killing it in class
👑 meeting new people, making new friends, socialising and building your community with every session that you show up with an incredible group of Queens!
-
Yes! There are often new Queens, even on week 2 of a routine cycle.
Show up whenever you can. You’ll never be left behind.
We start from the beginning again each session. Even people who were there for week 1 of the routine will want to refresh, have an opportunity to polish their moves, and enjoy dancing what they’ve built up confidence with.

If there is enough interest for a different day or time slot, I will try to make that happen!
It’s my hope that we will shortly launch Weekend Dance Workshops in Guildford 💃✨
Think Sassy Sunday Brunch Vibes — but with dance, instead of pancakes and mimosas. A perfect way to add extra sparkle to your weekend and do something social with friends 💖
This would be a Sunday session starting before midday, lasting 90-120 minutes so we can learn MORE of the routine and/or have more social time.
Register your interest at the link above.

Absolutely! We have time at the end where we will repeatedly dance what we’ve learnt, bringing ‘performance energy’ for ourselves.
This is a great time to capture it on camera.
Do it for:
The memories!
A record of what you achieved - and something to look back on for how you have progressed
So you can see any tweaks you want to make - any moves you want to make bigger, sharper or clean up
Remember the routine so you can keep dancing it at home
-
You do not.
And if you don’t want to be captured in the background of anyone else’s video either, say something or move yourself to a spot that isn’t in shot.
That said, recording yourself is a great way to capture your dance journey! I wish I have more videos of myself - even the routines I struggled with - to look back at how far I’ve come and remind myself of the good times along the way.
-
Wear something that makes you feel comfortable, that you can easily move in and that makes you feel GOOD about your body!
As the instructor, I will always be in my SOS T-shirt, and usually leggings or sweatpants.
Often with converse or another kind of trainer.
Queens wear anything from legging and a T-shirt, to trackies, to shorts and crop tops! Whatever suits your vibe.
You can also take inspiration from the vibe of the song and what the choreographer is wearing in the preview videos.
-
Whatever makes you feel GOOD!
Hair up or down is fine.
If there are hair whips in the routine, you may like your hair loose (whether down, or tied up) so you can get that ‘whoosh’.
Short hair or hair in a bun is fine, too.
It all depends on your style!

🚙 Directions + Parking 🚙
If you are using a satnav to find Kings College, it will likely take you to the front of the school. Instead, park in the side car park.
If you are travelling from the direction of Tesco/Surrey Sports Park/Royal Surrey Hospital, you will go STRAIGHT OVER the southway roundabout, instead of taking the first exit. After the roundabout, take the first left.
You may see signs for ‘The Hive’ community centre. Head towards this, but take a left into the Kings College car park (instead of continuing right to The Hive.)
Traffic can be DIFFICULT at this time of day if you are travelling through the centre of town. Please consider this when planning your journey and allow extra time to travel, park and walk to the studio.
Aim to get there 10 minutes before class is due to start!
🔍 Finding the dance studio from the car park 🔍
Once you’re in the car park, follow these directions to the dance studio:
🚶 Walk towards the building with the ‘Surrey Maths School’ sign. THIS IS WHERE YOU WILL FIND RECEPTION. They can also help direct you if needed.
🟢 Facing the reception building, look to your left. You’ll see a ‘Kings College Sports Hub’ sign. Go through the green gate (with the padlock on it) immediately to the right of the sign.
⬅️ FOLLOW THE PATH to the left and go through the 2nd green gate.
➡️ GO RIGHT at the ‘drama and dance’ sign.
⬅️ GO LEFT through the automatic doors (this is also where you will pass the toilet, should you need it).
➡️ At the next set of doors, TURN RIGHT down the corridor to enter the dance studio.

If you're looking for one-to-one support to really dig into your body’s movement, I offer private sessions as a personal trainer and movement facilitator.
In these sessions, we can work on building your confidence, identifying where you might be holding tension, and developing your strength in basic movements.
We’ll focus on foundational exercises like squats, mobility, and making sure your body feels strong and aligned ready for your next dance class with me.
We'll have fun with some music, work on strengthening your body, and get you more comfortable so you can feel ready to bring that confidence to your main dance classes!Let me know if you’re interested in diving deeper into your movement practice!
